Well here I am...Thats my BFF Lou McDonald and Alex Wisser in the photo and now my exhibition is on the walls, the people are invited and all I should have to do now is simply wait for opening night... Life as an artist would appear to be proceeding at a leisurely pace if anyone took a superficial glance...But how wrong that would be!After conferring with INDEX Gallery curator, fab photographer and all round nice guy Alex (The Wizkid) Wisser we decided in the best interests of the show to ditch five of the images and rehang the gallery yesterday! The stress levels started creeping up a little as we struggled to remeasure for hanging and move unframed prints that are 110cms wide...But the cull was necessary...In the face of legendary Magnum photographer, mentor to thousands and personal friend David Alan Harvey arriving to see my work on Tuesday I feel that the edit is one of extreme importance... One of David mantra's is to snip and tuck to strengthen the meaning behind the work..'At the End of The Day' doesn't have a lineal narrative. It is an exploration of people within the landscape and I have tried to push the imagery compositionally to create new ways of seeing. When I studied as a painter at COFA in Sydney I was obsessed with attempting to fit the landscape into two planes on one surface. Its a struggle I again undertake in this exhibition. How successful my efforts will be in achieving that will be judged by the public in a little less than 30 hours and it is a daunting prospect. Every solo exhibition I have ever had always makes me feel like I am walking into a room full of people naked. And since a lot of people are travelling a long way to come and see the exhibition I hope they will be able to appreciate what I am trying to tell them in my work.Tomorrow night will also be broadcast live on PJHoggersTV.
