...equals Shark Bait...Well I have to say if I have ever had any uncertainty as to what the value of my career choice is to other people, I have been left in no doubt what-so-ever now..Most people I am sure have have seen the televised "live" duel between Australian World Champion Surfer Mick Fanning and a very large and toothy Great White Shark off the South African coast line several days ago...What very few people would have realised is that while the two headlining surfers that were in the water were almost immediately rescued by the World Surf organisation rescue boats a small and fragile event photographer was left bobbing about by himself...As Kelly Cestari himself called for the rescue boats to go and "Get Mick" I am sure he didn't expect that he himself would be forgotten and left in the ocean with a large, carnivorous predator on the loose. You can read the whole story hereI am not sure what the other photographers and camera people I know out there think but this really doesn't surprise me at all, having in my life dealt with many situations at events where us photographers have been treated literally like the underside of a homeless person's toenails...However, leaving your photographer to become a fish meal is a whole other ball game...Or should I say a whole other angler?Todays photo was shot in Ballina and is a very large raw prawn... something like what Kelly Cestari must have felt like the other day...
