I am not a romantic...Well at least thats what I have told everyone all my life... in fear, I guess, of the greater probability of all romantic notions failing abysmally when it comes to reality...Take for instance the romance of the idea that we could all be equal in our dealings with one another...That we can respect and nurture each others cultures, race, gender and religions...But the sad fact is few of us are completely immune to feelings of jealousy, spite and possessiveness and while most of us don't take these feelings to the extreme there are people amongst us who seem to lose all control for not a lot of motivation...Now nuance is an important thing, sensitive and intelligent human beings understand how easily a slight can be achieved by using the wrong words and gestures and in this day and age the internet can be the ultimate destructive force...cyber bullying, stalking and sheer bad behaviour can hide behind an anonymous computer screen.Take for instance the currently incredibly ferocious and one could say unjustified backlash to a movie obviously authored by some either stupid or wilfully contentious film maker that disrespects the Muslim religion.I have not seen the film and I know little about the circumstances of the insult to Islam but I seriously suspect that the nuance behind it has been particularly unpleasant for the people of that faith. Denigrating the most important part of a person's life in any way shape or form is a childish thing to do. If you can't be nice don't say anything or make movies that ridicule another.Of course the reaction to what has happened has been outrageous. To take the life of another over so paltry a thing as an insult is what creates and continues the culture of war.To this end I would like to introduce the teaser for a documentary I am seeking funding to complete. I believe the story is that of a journey to healing and is far worthier of a look than anything that has a negative impact.Called 'Beautiful Music' it is the story of the Sydney Street Choir and a remarkable trip that they made to the centre of Australia. Called the 'Two Hearts Tour" the choir travelled from the cold grey streets in the heart of Sydney to the warm red heart of Australia. The documentary was short listed for Screen Australia funding but was pipped at the post so I am soon to run a 'Indiegogo' Campaign to attempt to raise enough funds to complete the documentary and get it distributed.I invite you all to visit my Vimeo site to view the teaser here which was edited for an exhibition on mental health and I would love to receive your feedback and thoughts about any possible distribution outlets. Before I start my campaign I would ask as many of you as you can to spread the word far and wide as I believe this story can achieve the impossible...a world where we all share the same heart...One where the romance of love, kindness and perseverance succeeds over all else...Todays photo is a still taken during the making of the documentary in Alice Springs...
